By Lauren O’Connell If you’re anything like me, balancing the hastiness of life sometimes seems impossible. From remembering to fill out school forms to cooking dinner so we’re not ordering out for the 4th night in a row (cringe), finding time for spirituality can seem like an impossible task. However, nurturing your spiritual side is essential for maintaining balance and inner peace. Here are some practical tips I use to help you incorporate spirituality into your daily life, no matter how hectic it may be.
Start Your Day with Intention
Set the tone for your day by taking a few minutes each morning to meditate or practice mindfulness. This doesn't have to be a lengthy session—just a few minutes of focused breathing and setting your intentions is all that’s needed. If you have the time, a 10-minute guided mediation on YouTube like this one can give you a great starting point for your day. If you can do this before checking your texts, emails, and the news, more power to you!
Create a Sacred Space
Designate a small area in your home or office as a sacred space. It could be a corner with a com for table chair, the top of your dresser, or even a small altar on a bookcase. My home office is a collection of objects, books, and keepsakes from my travels that all have spiritual meanings to me. I suggest starting small, with a raw amethyst crystal like this one. Amethyst is a very spiritual crystal and brings peace, harmony, and creativity. You may find that collecting crystals and other fun spiritual mementos gets addictive, so make sure your sacred space has room to grow.
Integrate Gratitude
Incorporate gratitude into your daily routine. Keep a gratitude journal and jot down three things you're thankful for each evening. This practice helps shift your focus from what's lacking to what's abundant in your life, fostering a sense of spiritual fulfilment. I use a journal like this one.
Use Technology Wisely
Leverage technology to support your spiritual practice. Listen to spiritual podcasts, join online meditation sessions, or follow social media accounts that offer daily inspiration and guidance. I like This way, you can stay connected to your spiritual path, even on the go.
Prioritize Self-Care
Finally, remember that self-care is a crucial aspect of spirituality. Make sure to get enough rest, eat nourishing foods, and allow yourself moments of relaxation. When you take care of your physical and mental well-being, you create a solid foundation for your spiritual growth. Incorporating spirituality into a busy life is all about finding small, meaningful ways to stay connected to your inner self. By weaving these practices into your daily routine, you can maintain a sense of peace and purpose, no matter how hectic life gets.
