Spiritual plants to keep in your home

Updated: Aug 3

I didn’t have much interest in plants until my breast cancer diagnosis. My doctors (both western and Ayurvedic-trained) advised me to avoid the public as much as possible and to stay home, away for other peoples’ energies and germs as my body healed from surgery and went through chemotherapy.

Keeping spiritual plants in my home enhances my living space's ambiance and fosters a sense of peace and well-being. Even my kids seem more zen! Here are some top spiritual plants to consider:

  1. Aloe Vera

Known for its healing properties, Aloe Vera is believed to bring positive energy and ward off bad vibes. Its soothing presence can enhance your home's spiritual harmony.

Aloe vera is not only a skincare superstar but also known as the "plant of immortality" in ancient Egyptian lore, thanks to its remarkable healing properties and spiritual significance!

2. Lavender

Lavender’s calming scent promotes relaxation and stress relief. Keeping a lavender plant can help create a serene environment, perfect for meditation or unwinding after a busy day.

Lavender, beyond its soothing fragrance, was used by ancient Romans in their baths not just for relaxation but also as a natural insect repellent and disinfectant, proving it’s both a timeless and versatile herb.

3. Peace Lily

Peace Lilies are symbols of purity and tranquility. They purify the air and can help create a peaceful and spiritually uplifting atmosphere in your home.

The Peace Lily, besides being a stunning indoor plant, is a natural air purifier that can remove toxins like formaldehyde and benzene from the air, making it both beautiful and beneficial for a healthier home environment.

4. Sage

Sage is often used for cleansing and purifying spaces. Having a sage plant can be a constant reminder of the importance of clearing out negative energy and inviting positivity.

Sage isn’t just a kitchen staple; its name comes from the Latin word salvia, meaning “to save,” reflecting its long history as a healing herb believed to have protective and medicinal properties.

5. Basil

Basil is associated with protection, love, and good fortune. It’s a wonderful addition to any home, bringing both culinary and spiritual benefits.

Basil isn’t just for making pesto—its name comes from the Greek word basilikos, meaning "royal," because it was once considered a symbol of royalty and was revered for its aromatic and healing properties.

Integrating spiritual plants into your life goes beyond just adding greenery; it’s about enriching your well-being and deepening your connection to nature. These plants offer physical benefits and serve as daily reminders of peace and balance. Embrace them as allies in your journey toward inner harmony and serenity.
